Failure Is an Illusion. It Doesn’t Exist!

A while ago, I published an article, Turning Bad Illusions into Sweet Realities. The article explains what most of the things we care about or are even afraid of, don’t exist. It explains that that certain concepts, such as darkness, coldness, and negative energy, are illusions that only exist in our minds. Using physics as an analogy, I explained that darkness is simply the absence of light, and coldness is the absence of heat—neither of which exists as a standalone entity. Similarly, the notion of “negative energy” is misleading; it’s not that negative energy is transferred, but rather that people can drain our energy through their harmful words or behavior.

Today, I’d like to draw your attention to another thing that most people are extremely afraid of, to the point where they don’t even want to try anything because of their fear of it. This thing, however, is just another illusion and doesn’t exist at all. It exists only in our minds and has no place in nature or the universe: failure!

Let’s say you want to climb a mountain and reach the summit. However, for some reason, you can’t make it all the way and decide to turn back. For example, you find it too cold halfway up, and since you don’t have proper clothing, you decide not to continue.

You and others might call this a defeat or failure. You think you failed to reach the summit because it was too difficult, and you weren’t adequately prepared. But in reality, there is no failure or defeat. All you received was a message: you need better clothing and more preparation.

If you understand this message and try again, you’ll eventually reach the summit. But if you don’t, you will carry this experience as a failure for the rest of your life.

Everything else in life is like that, too. You don’t fail. You aren’t defeated. You simply make attempts, gather feedback, and receive messages accordingly. Then, you need to adjust, make changes, and try again.

The world is full of people who see themselves as losers or too weak to pursue the things that could make a difference in their lives. They say everything they’ve tried has ended in failure. They believe success is not for them, but only for special people with unique abilities, opportunities, powers, privileges, or connections. This is the most flawed mentality anyone can have. When it comes to starting or trying something, everyone is the same. The difference is that some people try once or for a short while and then call it failure, while others—who are rare—take the lessons, prepare better, and keep trying until they succeed.

Bruce Lee once said, ‘Defeat is a state of mind; no one is ever defeated until defeat has been accepted as a reality.’
