The Real Rich and Those Who Just Look Rich

If you have been reading my posts on this site for a while, you know that I frequently talk about the rich, their habits, mindset, and similar topics. The reason is that many people, although they aspire to become wealthy and lead an extremely comfortable life, harbor resentment towards the rich because they perceive them as evil. This is a misguided mindset. Like all other groups of people, there are both good and bad individuals among the wealthy. One excellent example is Warren Buffett, who, even at the age of 93, remains as honest and innocent as a child, while either he has been the richest or among the top 10 richest people in the world for the past several decades.

Instead of harboring animosity towards them, there are numerous valuable lessons we can learn from the wealthy. I have already shared many of these insights, which you can find on the pages below:

Today, I’d like to discuss another aspect of wealthy people’s lives that the poor and average individuals often overlook:

The poor and average individuals tend to strive for an appearance of wealth, investing significant sums of money in this pursuit. They allocate their entire earnings to purchase brand-name products, expensive cars, and luxury homes. To afford these items, they work tirelessly, subjecting themselves to considerable stress. In contrast, the wealthy approach this differently. They are indifferent to whether they appear rich or not; their focus lies on their projects and goals. They only reside in luxury homes when the passive income streams they’ve established cover all the associated expenses.

This means they first work hard to accumulate wealth. Concurrently, they allocate a portion of their income to create passive income sources. For instance, they invest in residential and commercial properties that they can rent out. The revenue generated from these properties and other investments is termed “passive income” because it doesn’t require active work to generate—it accrues on its own.

Subsequently, if the amount of passive income they generate is sufficient to cover the down payment, mortgage, and other expenses associated with a high-quality, expensive house, they might consider purchasing one. Otherwise, they are content living in a modest, smaller house or even a rental apartment.

But what do those who appear to be rich actually do?

They work excessively hard to amass a significant amount of money, but they use their earnings to cover the costs of their expensive lifestyles, including houses, cars, and other luxuries. If they face a period where they don’t generate income for a few months, they risk becoming homeless and broke. This is a reality for many of them every day and was the same situation for millions during the pandemic, while the rich continued to accumulate wealth due to their sound investments.

They pursue this lifestyle because they want to seem rich, not necessarily live like the truly wealthy. Looking rich takes precedence over leading a genuinely rich and comfortable life. Impressions matter more to them than their own happiness.

Indeed, passive income is of utmost importance, a concept that many people are unaware of and don’t understand how to generate.
