You Are Your Brain! Use It As Long As You Still Have the Chance

Although everyone knows that the brain is the most important part of the body, they don’t think about it that much. There are invaluable lessons that you can learn through learning how your brain works. You are your brain. What do I mean by this?

Everything we know, from our name, to what we learn and people we know, our job and skills and everything, they are all saved and stored in our brain. Have you ever asked yourself why newborns cannot talk and walk while they already have the tools they need to talk and walk? They have their mouth, tongue, throat, lungs, etc. that adults also have and use to talk with. They also have legs, feet, etc. they can use to walk. But they cannot talk and walk, nor can they do many other things that adults or even toddlers do. What is still needed to do all of these?

It is their brain that is still incomplete and its different departments haven’t become developed yet. However, brain cells of newborns duplicate so fast and build the different departments that control different actions and behaviors. Therefore, babies gradually become able to repeat the words they hear. They also learn to crawl and then they can stand up and walk. It is their brain that is growing and developing.

From the first second of our life, our brain starts developing, collecting and storing information. Our personality is the result of what is stored in our brain, as well as our knowledge, experiences and our skills. Even what we see, hear, and feel is the result of our brain cells’ interactions and interpretation of the data they receive from our sense organs like eyes, ears, skin, tongue and nose. Our eyes only send some electrical signals to the visionary department of our brain. They are nothing but some optical hardware. We know nothing about the electrical signals that our eyes send to our brain. They have no meaning for us. It is our brain that translates those signals into images that we can understand. If the visionary department of our brain doesn’t work properly, either we cannot see (although our eyes can be 100% okay), or we see extra things that we call illusions.

I know a man who got a sudden cardiac arrest. Therefore, his heart stopped and his brain cells didn’t receive food and oxygen for several minutes, and so many of them died. He got back to life, but as he had lost many parts of his brain, he wasn’t the same person anymore. He became a different person. A husband, father and a professional accountant turned into someone who didn’t know himself, his name and his children. He didn’t remember anything from his profession, and he thought that his wife was his mother. He had turned into a completely different person while his legal identity and physical appearance were still the same.

It means, we will be gone when our brain goes!!! Our brain is not going to last forever. When our brain cells die, we won’t exist anymore and can’t do anything. Everything we have learned and we can do, will be gone. Our chances are so limited. The best thing we can do as long as we have the chance is to leave something for humanity that they can use and enjoy after us. That’s the best thing we can do. This is exactly what Bill Gates means when he says,

As we look ahead into the next century, leaders will be those who empower others.

Leaders of the new world are the ones who serve people as much as they can to enable them to have a better life. The true leaders will be the ones who make the earth a better place for everyone to live.

Use your brain to do this as long as you have the chance. If you cannot do it alone, you can do it as a member of a community who has the same dreams and goals. You help the community and the community helps you, while they handle the risks and burdens that you cannot handle alone. Let’s do this!

We achieve our goals, not immediately, but slowly, surely and definitely!
