You have already heard this from me that Henry Ford’s life doesn’t stop making me amazed, and if we didn’t have so many video-records, documents, and evidence that prove how he lived and worked, I would not believe his story and would think that he was a myth. But, Henry Ford really existed and his achievements have really happened. Although he passed away 76 years ago, no one else has been able to repeat what he has done on that scale. No one has ever been able to produce 10,000 cars per day, an no car has ever been like Ford Model T that is still known as the most successful car in history because 50,000,000 of it became produced from 1908 to 1927, and 60% of the cars on the earth were Ford Model T at that time.
But, Henry Ford is not limited to that. In my previous article (here), I talked about life that is a constant battle against disappointment, from my point of view. If you look at Henry Ford’s life, you will see that not only he has been constantly battling with disappointment, but also he helped people, his nation and also other nations to win against disappointment.

You should know a lot about Henry Ford if you have been following my articles. You know that unlike today’s scams who are after nothing but sucking people’s blood more and more, Henry Ford was only after enabling average and even poor families to have a car. Even when he could produce more cars with higher qualities, not only he didn’t increase the price, but he lowered it. Even when he found out that there were some families who could not afford Ford Model T that he sold for $850, he produced a simpler and smaller version of Model T and sold it for $260 only, just to enable all families to have a car. Yet this is not what I’d like to share in this article. There’s another amazing story about this legend that I will summarize in a few paragraphs below, to show you how strong a human-being can be.
He was the first who invented and used moving assembly lines in machinery. Many of the other car companies who succeeded after him, took his ideas, otherwise they couldn’t get anywhere. Henry Ford thought that he could keep producing the Model T forever. However, some other car companies who had stolen his ideas started producing some other cars that looked more attractive than the Model T. That was the time that Henry Ford decided to discontinue the Model T and design a new model that could keep controlling the market for him, like what the Model T had been doing for about 20 years. That was one of the cases that Henry Ford had to fight against disappointment. Do you think that it is easy to stop the production of a car that has 10,000 of it produced every day? It is like doing everything from scratch in a factory with hundreds of thousands of workers.
They stopped producing any car for seven months and focused on designing a new model. After spending millions of dollars in 1928, they offered a new model that was called Ford Model A. Just on the first day, 10 million people went to see the Model A. Hundreds of thousands of orders were taken.

However, Henry Ford’s challenges didn’t end there. He thought that like Model T, Model A could be mass-produced for 20 years and he could take a breeze for a long time. But, he was wrong. Some other car companies had been trying hard to take the market from Ford Motors. One of them offered a car with a 6-cylinder engine. It was something completely innovative at that time because cars only had four cylinders. When people found out that a 6-cylinder car is much stronger, they rushed to buy them, and that was the time that Henry Ford had to have another challenge and had to fight with disappointment again.
He never gave up. He said, “if the number of cylinders is what people want, then we will produce a car with eight cylinders!!!”
Everyone said it was impossible. But, Henry Ford said, it is possible and we will do it. It is a good time to remember his most famous quote that I love a lot:
Whether you think you can, or you think you cannot, you are right.
He produced a car with eight cylinders that was twice stronger than the 4-cylinder ones, while its engine wasn’t bigger and longer because they placed 4 cylinders at two sides, next to each other. It became the miracle of mechanic and machinery at that time 😀
Is that all?
No! Didn’t I tell you that life is a constant battle against disappointment?

On February 10th 1942, all civilian car production was stopped because Ford had a new mission. He had to build military equipment for the allies, from Jeeps and trucks to tanks and B24 bomber aircrafts because America had to be involved in World War 2 to help Europe against Hitler, while Japan had also invaded the United States. The machinery mass-production genius did a great job in this too. He created the biggest and strongest production line for the gigantic B24 bomber while he was 80 years old at that time. In 1944, they produced one finished bomber every two hours!!! This is impossible to do even now and after 79 years that this industry has been developing nonstop.
We are not going to give up, as Henry Ford didn’t give up too…
We achieve our goals, not immediately, but slowly, surely and definitely!
