I’d probably choose a career that combines creative writing with psychology — maybe something like narrative therapy, storytelling for healing, or writing fiction that helps people feel understood.
I’ve come to appreciate how deeply stories shape our minds, relationships, and sense of meaning — and I’d want to spend my days exploring that intersection.
Auto racing i just love it. I grew up racing carts and When it got to expensive for my dad, that was it i had to quit. Given another chance i would find away to keep going and maybe, you never know F1! I did do a lot of street racing and cross country Racing for money. I guess to get back at my Dad of course it did work, he did care. I did illegal racing well in to my Late thirty’s. As you know it never ends well. If your a real passion never quit or give up there is always a way, you just need to find it!!!!
That’s Awesome Jo!! My wife always says i have Racing Fuel instead of Blood Pumping inside me!!

Love those movies!!!
- If I could go back in time, I would choose veterinarian.
Nice! My sister studied to be a vet, but ended up in soil sciences, of all things.
I was quite gifted in math and problem solving, but when I went to my guidance counselor for suggestions career wise, he said be a teacher or a nurse. I became a nurse and hated it. I wish I had pursued something that used my math skills. My father, and younger brother and sister all were engineers.
Oh no, that’s too bad. What did you hate about nursing? I imagine the hours were pretty gruelling, not to mention the stress of being in contact with so much trauma. I wonder what made the counsellor suggest nursing.
I couldn’t stand the site of blood and I fainted with bad smells. Should never have been a nurse. Was a financial advisor for 20 years. He told all girls to be a teacher or a nurse.
Very old fashioned. A lot of nurses and teaches must have come from your school.
Oww, why Judy you didn’t follow yourself desires?
I didn’t know what they were Delia. That was why I went to the guidance counselor!
My sponsor asked me to go for Nursing career for the opportunity to work overseas but I chose accounting and I am here in Guam (overseas) employed as an Accounting Technician. So whatever career you chose if you are destined to work overseas its a destiny.
So you’re saying that our career paths are preassigned, that we have no control over what we choose? Interesting.
I think that I would choose the military. They offer get education, training, advancements, and retirement. I wish that I had been more serious about career opportunities when I was younger.
Interesting! What did you choose instead?
Accounting
If I could go back into time to when I was younger, I would choose the same exact career path. Working for the government was always my dream, and it became true.
That’s great, lucky you! 🙂
Thank you, Jo! I was able to retire with 40 years of service and now I am so blessed to have found all of you, in this community!
Yeah, it’s nice to meet you here Phyllis.
I would have gone straight into nursing and then into Nurse Practitioner right after that. I love the medical field and have worked in it for the last 15 years. A lot has changed and then COVID. My heart is still halfway in it and then the other half is not sure – especially since becoming a mom last year and wanting to be 100% present for her.
Congrats on becoming a mom! That’s a full-time job in itself. Are you currently a nurse?
I have been a Medical Assistant for the last 8 years. Prior I was a CNA/PCT since 2009. At the moment, I am a SAHM – to continue being 100% present with her until further notice.

What a great answer!! Love it. My brother is big on Nascar. I call it “fast cars turning left.” I think he’d choose auto racing too, if he could go back. He’s nuts about it and will travel great distances just to see a race.
