My biological father passed away unexpectedly, I didn’t answer his call and a few days later he was deceased from falling and hitting his head on the night stand beside his bed. Died instantly. If I can say anything to him, is I love you and I am sorry for not picking up his call, and I forgive you and the people involved for keeping you away from us.
A friend of mine was killed by a train here in New York City. This happened in 2015.I had spoken to him approximately two weeks before this tragedy. Also what hurt the most was that he was homeless, had virtually no income, and we found out over the years the circumstances that led to his untimely death. If he were alive today,I would tell him that many doors open up when some remain closed.
Losing my dad when I was only 4 meant I never really got to know him. But his picture on my fireplace is a comforting presence. I often find myself wishing for more time with him, especially when I see the strong bond my kids have with their dad. It makes me wonder how different things might have been growing up with my own dad around.
My mother passed away unexpectedly when I was 12 years old I never got the the chance to tell her one last time that I loved her.

Myriam, I’m so sorry to hear about your friend. Losing someone in such a tragic way must have been incredibly tough, especially knowing the circumstances he was facing.
Your words about doors opening up are really powerful. It’s a reminder that even in the darkest times, there’s still hope for a brighter future. Ty for sharing!
