Homeschooling can be a great option for some families, but it really depends on the individual child and the circumstances. There are definitely some advantages, like personalized learning, flexibility, and being able to tailor the curriculum to a child’s interests or strengths. It can also create a closer bond between parents and children and allow for more focused, one-on-one instruction.
That said, homeschooling isn’t for everyone. It can require a lot of time, energy, and organization from the parents to make it work. Socialization is also a big consideration, as children may not have the same opportunities to interact with peers as they would in a traditional school setting. Some people might also feel like they’re missing out on certain extracurricular activities or a more diverse environment.
Ultimately, it really depends on the family, the child’s learning style, and the resources available.
I think that parents should home school their children. That way their children can be taught the way that their parents want them to be.
Yes I think having more choice and freedom over what children learn is important! X
I definitely have to agree As parents we should definitely have more say and involvement in what are children are doing wether it be in school or homeschooling.
I’m a homeschooling Mom at best. I definitely feel in this time that we’re living in the safety of our babies is Most important.
Yes having them out of danger is so important and at school you are just in control of what’s happening.
I don’t have children but if I did I’d do everything to make sure I could keep them with me. The attitude to schooling has gotten quite sinister in my view. Too political. In the UK parents are fined for their children missing school. And they have allowances for sick days that are stricter than any employer I’ve ever worked for. It’s too much of a young persons life, too many hours. I don’t even think the socialisation of hundreds of children forced into the same building together all day is natural. I’m not surprised its popularity is growing here.
Exactly the reasons I don’t want my children in school it has become such a horrible place rather than what it should be. I’d more rather have my children at home and know they are learning in a loving and caring environment suited to their needs and catered to them.
I think it’s a very good thing especially for disabled or disabilities children so the can have homeschooling comfortable in their home.
Yes it’s great for children with any additional needs as they can get the support they need.
I have been homeschooling my children since they were little, and now I have a 10th grader and a 9th grader. Throughout this journey, we have had the opportunity to join various homeschooling groups and participate in activities that allow them to interact with others.
It has been a rewarding experience for both me and my children. I’ve seen them thrive from their early years into their teenage years. I wholeheartedly support those who choose to homeschool their children, but I always emphasize that it’s not the right fit for everyone.
I love that you’ve been going for so long, I am new to it and love it I have met so many amazing families through meets and I truly believe it’s what’s best for my children and my family but yes it is a wild journey!
I was homeschooled for a short period of time. My mom owned her own cleaning business at the time. I had some learning disabilities and my parents decided to put me back in the public school system. I got the help that I needed. I also went to a Private-Christian School(s) 7th-12th grade, I liked it because of the small ratios and one-on-one to work through my learning disabilities, I am forever grateful for all of my teachers that took “time” to make sure I didn’t get left behind.
As an mother now, I think that Co-op homeschool is something I would want my daughter in. In school for 2-3 days a week to have that peer interaction, education, and play sports if she wants too.
That sounds fantastic that you got the support you needed, that’s what my daughter was missing out on. I did try to get part time but it was refused so we are home Ed for her to get the one to one off me.
I am not sure how it works because I have not tried it. I have 3 kids and they all go to school and they love it.
I have a son in school and he loves it too he is young but he enjoys it a lot.
It is good because they learn to socialise. I always talk to them about not getting involved in wrong crowds and they know always that when they finish school they should come home straight away. So much is happening these days that parents do not feel safe anymore sending children to school.
, If I had children I would definitely home schooled them I would feel much better knowing my child was safe & in good hands
Safety is a huge reason I prefer my children to be with me.
50/50 Kids might miss out on interacting with peers
Yes it is important to get out and make it to meet ups we go to lots of groups to meet other children and let them play. X
Honestly I don’t really have an issue with it. When I was younger I was put into homeschool. But my experience was not very good. Because I have parents that both worked two jobs and my mother dropped out of school also. But back when I dropped out we didn’t have internet I mean we did that’s when the computers and everything just started coming out with the dial-up and listen to that really annoying sound.
And another reason is they kept giving my mom the run around with the books we needed. We think it was just because they didn’t want me to be home school because they wouldn’t get money from me with the state.
At least that’s what my parents thought.
But now we have the internet so fast now we have the fiber optic internet but she’s even faster You have cell phones you have all this new technology that we did not have back then and really when you think about it it’s amazing.
Anyways we have had our daughter in home school right after COVID-19 and her brother went back to school when he could. But her it just made it worse. She is now 18 and still will not come out of her room. I mean unless your spending 💰 on her. Anyways way off track to me homeschooling is not a bad thing it just you need to make sure that the kids are doing it everyday like they’re supposed to because once they feel like they don’t have to they won’t ever start again.
Yes I have one in one out at the moment it is hard, making sure we focus on fun ways of learning whilst they are young is how we try to focus at the moment but I have yet to try to teach a teenager
Homeschool needs just to supplement the normal school environment. Children needs to be made accessible to the larger school environment to socialise, compete and grow holistically.
Thanks for answering I don’t believe children need school to be social as my daughter attends more social events than most during the week and much more time for making friendships without the teacher telling you to focus on work x
I have had 6 children. First I sent the older two to a Steiner school, after that I home educated. My 17 year old is now in college and I’m starting all over again with my 5 year old.
I have one in school and one that left and is now at home with me I wish my other one wanted to leave school but he loves it.
The shift is bringing clash.
Unschooling, letting the children explore, navigate and play. We guide, observe and remember who we are as guardians of the next generation,at our core.
we teach each other when we play together.
not in outdated programs, with older model programed teaching.
we need to listen to our youth in an environment that they feel at optimum confidence to be themselves.
energy flow.

Aw that’s good to hear!
