Are Dating sites Ever Genuine?

I think dating sites should be viewed as not something to take  too seriously. Not going into them with too much expectation would protect from getting hurt

I wouldn’t trust anything thing or anyone on the Internet. People are not who they really say they are!! Face to face yes that I can trust more. Dating sites no I say far away. You have protect your identity and personal details these days!!

I don’t think it is a scam but it is hit or miss with whomever you decide to date just as you would meet someone in person. Discernment is the key.

I have only used one and while I’m sure the site is legitimate (it’s a huge one that’s been around a while and has tens of millions of users), every person I met on it was a total creep or scammer. Over about a year I chatted with probably 200 people and not one of them was legit! No more of those sites for me, total waste of time and a real wake up to how many fakes and scammers there are in the world today. Sad.

I don’t think so, no. My experience of them is that they are full of creeps who only want one thing or people who lie about the kind of person they are.

Most sites are genuine, it’s the people on them that’s sometimes aren’t genuine. Most ( not all ) on them are creepy and only looking for money.

I don’t think it’s a scam, however, I do think it is a gamble. Some win, some lose. It just depends on what you get.

They are only genuine in that there are real people that you can meet but the problem is it’s a gamble you never know who you might meet or what you might encounter so I wouldn’t call it a scam it’s more so like a sham something that is not purported what it is to be

I have never been on a dating site but people I have known who have used them got a wide range of results or uses.

One friend found someone to marry while another just used it as a site for hookups.  Of course the later was not the I tended use for the particular site.  But it has evolved into that unfortunately.

It is the people who make the sites genuine.  So whoever operates the site must be very restrictive in order to keep it genuine I think.
