On this day in 2006, Pluto was demoted from an official planet in our solar system to a dwarf planet. And I recall a lot of us crying foul about that.
Do you think that Pluto should regain it’s planet status? Or do you just pretend that the ruling never happened and still regard it as a planet?
Pluto is a planet. Dwarf or not, not a primary orbiting body or not. It’s still our baby planet to me.
As long as it’s still in our solar system it should be part of the planets but if it’s disappearing then then it’s no longer a planet
It does make sense
The debate over Pluto’s planetary status is both scientific and sentimental! Here’s a quick breakdown:
🔭 Scientifically, Pluto was reclassified in 2006 by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) as a dwarf planet because it:
· Orbits the Sun ✅
· Is round due to gravity ✅
· But has not cleared its orbital neighborhood of other debris ❌
That third rule is what bumped Pluto out of the “planet” club.
❤️ Culturally, many people still love Pluto and want it back as a planet — it’s nostalgic and feels like an underdog story.
Thanks for your insight, Kelvin! I know it’s technically out for that reason, but it’s still part of the solar system nonetheless, so I say they at least make it a honorary member or something!
Pluto I don’t think it is possible to be made an official planet. The reason being that, it is not clearly noticeable and it seems to be disappearing with time.
Hillary, I hadn’t thought of that before. Thanks for chiming in!
I honestly think it should be recognized
Yes It should be made official
Thanks for answering, Precious! Until it degrades for good, I think it should remain one of our planets.
Yes! Pluto should have never been removed, period. It should absolutely be a part of the planet system.
Thanks for chiming in, Jenni! Until it disappears, we keep it!
YES, I agree with you. It is a dwarf planet. It should be recognized and reclassified as a planet.
Never know, it could be habitual for life. It has a lot surprises most likely.
Heck yes! It’s a baby planet, but it’s still ours to love and have in our system. Thanks for chiming in!

I agree it should remain a planet. If it’s disappearing, I say it remains until it’s no longer recognizable, if that makes sense.
