It is a two-way thing. You can decide to be happy or create your own happiness, and then life happens to you, thereby denying you happiness.

You’re welcome, Phyllis
Happiness can depend greatly on whether you have a positive or negative personality
I have seen this in my husband’s own family. My husband has a very positive outlook he looks for the good in everything and always wants to be happy. His sister by comparison is always moaning and is never happy with what she has however good other people may think it is.
so I think you can definitely choose to be happy but your personality will have a big influence on whether you actually are.

Yes I believe happiness is a choice. I know some people suffer from depression and other conditions that affect their moods, but most can be controlled with medication. Happiness comes from within ourselves, not from other people although they can increase our happiness! Choose to be thankful and happy every day 😊

Happiness is a not a choice, because different situations can make one happy or not,but how you are able to cope with the situation matter.

Yes, happiness is a choice, one can choose to be happy or sad, just like I do say, our mood is just like switch, we decide which side to switch on, so it doesn’t really matter what’s going on in one’s life, the individual choice tells what reactions to give.

It’s my pleasure
Yes, in a conscious level, but your sub-conscious has to be changed also. An individual has the option to choose their own path in life, but unless we all work on the sub-conscious and our limited beliefs, that we all have, it may be difficult. Many individuals want to be happy, but they find it difficult. Not because they don’t want to be happy, but because they have a difficult time breaking the negative habits and patterns the sub-conscious has stored. It’s not always just as simple as thinking about something and it changes everything. We have to look within ourselves and ask, what is keeping me from being happy? What has my sub-conscious stored that keeps me from achieving my goals in life? Example: Most people have a hard time losing weight, but why? They all want to. The weight could be something that happened when they were young. Maybe they were always told that they can’t lose weight, they will always be fat. Consciously we may have forgotten that, but the sub-conscious stores it, until you decide to look within yourself and try to point out the limited beliefs (the sub-conscious stored) that’s keeping you from losing weight, being healthy in this case, becomes difficult. Sorry for the long explanation. This is my thing. I’m actually a certified Hypnotist. I studied this a bit.
