A Plan That Will Fail but Will Make You Way Ahead of Others

I’d like to emphasize once again that those who have made a significant difference in human lives are the ones deserving of our attention. I frequently discuss these individuals on this site, and Elon Musk is undoubtedly one of them. While you may already be familiar with him, I encourage you to read this article for a deeper understanding: Things You Didn’t Know About Elon Musk

Elon Musk once said,

Stop being patient and start asking yourself, how do I accomplish my 10-year plan in 6 months? You will probably fail but you will be a lot further ahead of the person who simply accepted it was going to take 10 years.

This quote alone has the potential to transform lives and propel individuals ahead of their peers. Attempting to achieve a 10-year plan in 6 months will likely result in failure. No one can do it. However, what truly matters is that, in doing so, you will be far ahead of your time.

Another fact to consider is that individuals who plan for, say, a 10-year timeline often struggle to accomplish their goals. The reason is that, with an abundance of time, one may not work hard and consistently. Knowing there’s ample time, you might decide to start tomorrow and take a day off. This pattern repeats, and even when you do work, it may lack intensity. Consequently, the project fails, and meeting the deadline becomes unattainable. Even if you possess the discipline to work diligently, the sheer knowledge of having 10 years to finish can slow you down. This phenomenon aligns with Parkinson’s Law, a concept we’ve discussed previously: Parkinson’s Law: Limit Your Time, Be More Efficient

Elon Musk has also described this situation in another quote that is even more interesting:

If you give yourself 30 days to clean your house, it will take 30 days. If you give yourself 3 hours, it will take 3 hours.

There are two types of people in this world. Some people just want to pass their time and life without having any impact on anything. Another group of people has a goal, which is usually making a difference, either in their own life or even in other people’s lives, and maybe even in humanity.

Those who belong to the second group must consider what Elon Musk says; otherwise, their goals will forever remain as goals and dreams. We don’t have time. If we want to do something, we must start now and never stop working until it becomes done.

We achieve our goals, not immediately, but slowly and surely!
