One day, a teacher gave each of her students a balloon. She asked them to inflate it, write their names on it, and then leave the balloons in the hallway.
Once all the balloons were placed outside, she mixed them up and told the students they had five minutes to find the one with their own name.
The students rushed around, searching frantically, but the hallway was filled with dozens of balloons and chaos. By the end of the time, almost no one had found their own balloon.
The teacher then gave them a second instruction:
“Pick up the balloon nearest to you, and give it to the person whose name is written on it.”
This time, within just a couple of minutes, everyone had their balloon back.
The teacher smiled and explained the lesson:
“This is what happens in our lives. Everyone is chasing their own happiness and struggling to find it. But when we help others find theirs, we find ours too.”
Why I’m Sharing This Story with You
One of our members recently asked me what LuckScout is, what it has been doing, and whether it has been around for long. That question inspired me to write this article, because the balloon story perfectly reflects the mission and vision of LuckScout.
LuckScout has been around for about 10 years. It started as a blog where several authors wrote about business and investment. Then, in 2022, I transformed it into the social media–like community you see today.
The idea was mine, but I wasn’t alone. My friends, who have worked with me for decades, supported me along the way. Some of my long-time friends—successful and wealthy entrepreneurs and investors—also agreed to provide financial backing. Their purpose was clear:
