I am afraid of the ocean. It is a beautiful creation, but it is dangerous at times.Do you remember back in 2012 when we had Hurricane Sandy?I had my aunt who is now deceased, living in Coney Island. My oldest cousin was also living there. They had to go stay with others on higher ground due to that. When they returned to their home, they came back to destruction. They lost the furniture, religious material they kept on shelves in a spare guest room, along with their refrigerator. They had to apply for Fema along with using homeowners insurance to rebuild. Also when I was a child,I would have dreams that I was in a cylinder, and the ocean was on either side.I really don’t know where this fear of it came from, but I remain terrified of this big body of water.
We lived in Orange Beach Alabama right at the Beach, it’s pretty yes but the smell of dead fish and salt water stinks really bad and it’s very dangerous during Hurricane Season
During Hurricane season folks living by the ocean do have to evacuate.I know someone who was living in Far Rockaway,New York. She said after Hurricane Sandy that a very huge wave crashed into her home, resulting in her losing that and four years later, she was able to purchase a new home after a lottery win at Atlantic City. The ocean really is very powerful.
Oh.ok, you live in New York, I have many family there also friends. No Hurricane but the winer is very hush and the snow mush too strong for my poor little body..lol hehe.😛😜😜🤪🤣
Yes I can just imagine how scary your friends was when they see the storm making the sea waves angry towards them. Its a good thing they run away quickly or things could of turned out very bad.
Actually we have some terrible storms in the UK too that kill many people and damage destroy houses too and the sea gets angry take people away.
I view ocean as therapeutic.. sitting or walking only on the edge with water ankle high … looking into it and listening to the waves … breath it in… I only visit the ocean every 💙 so years ….. 🥰
I saw a very classic movie about a woman who had been born handicapped. It was learning to swim in the ocean and water sports that enabled her to walk.Thsnk you for your comment.
Have a beautiful day ❤️
Oh.ok, your still young Myriam, you can learn to swim. You be surprises how it can overcome your fears of water and the ocean!!
Thank you for your encouragement.
Oh.ok, I’m so sorry for your loss of your aunt. Yes I remember Hurricane Sandy, that was a very bad hurricane.
Actually it’s not the big wide ocean I’m afraid of but. Its the hurricane that’s what I’m afraid of, it’s full of power like nothing on this earth and full of destruction, it’s destroy and kills anything and everything in its Path. But I can understand you.
Thanks for sharing your story Myriam.
Thank you for your response. We rarely get hurricanes here in New York City, but I agree. No matter where you are when a hurricane occurs,it is a horrific storm.Even a tropical wave has the same effect. Also I had a work colleague who said when he was in early adulthood,he and some friends went to Coney Island Luckily they had not reached the boardwalk yet.One of the friends saw huge waves coming over the boardwalk. It terrified them and they ran towards the train, got in and went home.It was a storm from the sea that caused that.Storms really can make the ocean angry.
I view the ocean as real nice when seen in photos or in mounted pictures, but since I’m not a fan of the oceans, I view it as scary and risky habitat, since it’s the territory of the aggressive predators like sharks and other deadly beasts, probably even mermaids or merman’s, and it can make whirlpools or even giant tsunamis whenever there’s an earthquake, or can cause drowning, if ever anyone with no or little swimming knowledge, ever attempts to swim. So, an ocean is a danger, at times.
Hi Myriam,
Yes true in some seas you you can see your feet and small fishes. But why are you afraid of the ocean? Can’t you swim?
I don’t know how to swim. Also I really don’t know where that serious fear of the ocean came from.I have to agree that it is a beautiful creation.Much of the Earth is made up of the sea.
I like the ocean and I think it magnificent.
I remember when I was in the beautiful Island of Jamaica. I went out fishing with my family and the fishermen. It was so beautiful and deep blue clear of the Caribbean seas.
It is true.I used to vacation there.During the day,the ocean is two toned. And you can see your feet and the small fish. However,I fear the ocean more at night.

I have overcome my fear of this very huge body of water a little. That happened because a friend of mine had passed away from a very severe heart condition. He was cremated and we scattered his ashes into the ocean at Coney Island.Another friend of mine states that I shouldn’t go around the ocean at night.
