Yes, I’ve gone back to 1400’s on my mother’s English side, no one notable except a town sheriff and the people who founded the town of Ashby de la Zouche.
I could not trace my father’s family as he was Greek and even with international membership I couldn’t find records in Ancestry or my Heritage, so I could only put as far as my great-grandparents for his side.
I know, I was amazed myself. And I found some really old family pics going back to 1850s and an even older portrait that looked just like one of my daughters in old fashioned clothing.
Where to Africa? No its much quicker flying. I only travel on a Cruiser if its a vacation cruise.
Oh, that sounds awesome! Thanks for sharing, David!
Yes Phyllis, I agree, it is a lot of fun, but then again so many libraries and public Richistory officers researching, really the best thing is to travel to Africa, to search the sals of export live stocks from the public export offices. We plan to all travel to Africa soon!! Thank you Phyllis, you are so welcome
Are you flying or going by ship?
Most black people in America 🇺🇸 and in Jamaica 🇯🇲 can’t map their family history tree. For Slavery most don’t know where in Africa they were taken from. Or even know their family true name. I can map my Mother side of the family from my great great grandmother. She was so beautiful that the slave owner married her and given all my family freedom, so we know there name from Mr Smith a Scottish. We still communicate with our African family so we know that part of the map. But, unfortunately on my Dad side of the family is unknown, we don’t know where in Africa they were taken from or even know their true names. But we are still searching so we can complete the full family tree!!
Not really
I agree, however, I mapped out as much as I could and found it to be quite interesting. I was to do as much as I could on both sides. I have fun doing it. Thanks for your comment and for your participation!
No, I haven’t
No I haven’t.
Thank you, Stephen for your comment and for your participation!
Yes because now thousands of African Americans are now travelling to America to get their I.d blood test to find their own history and their tribe and family. Many thousands from Jamaica 🇯🇲 and the Caribbean Islands are travelling to Africa and from England. As soon as I completed my projects by next year I be travelling back to Nigeria or Ghana so I can find my Dad side of the family.
Awesome!
Not yet but I’d probably get a kick out of digging into old family stories, piecing together where everyone came from, like a detective with a genealogy app.
Yes, Kelvin I think it’s a fun and an interesting project to do! I enjoyed doing my family’s. I wish I could have gone much further but I understand why. Thanks so much for your comment and for your participation to this question!
I believe when I was a teenager I did😂
That’s nice, Alexis! Thanks for your comment and for your participation!
Phyllis you are welcome. Thanks!
No, I have not personally. I have a sister-in-law that did all the research. She sent us our family history, family crest and coat of arms. I should contact her for a copy of the actual family tree. Thanks for the reminder❣
You have a very thoughtful and kind sister in law to do all the research! I am sure she enjoyed putting it all together! Thank you for sharing with us and for your participation!
Yes most black people was given their slave master name. We all have our slave masters names. Yes most of the prophets in the Scriptures has part of the Father name “Yah” example your name Yayannyah, its a beautiful name. Thank you Phyllis, for sharing 😘💕
You are absolutely welcome, my friend!
Africa countries governments are saying if black people come to Africa, by blood tests they can find your tribal history to find the location where your forefathers was taken from, and find your tribe and family. So the next time I go to Africa that what I’m going to do to find my Dad’s side of the family.
That would be awesome, David!
I think that is very good Phyllis, as most black people in the Caribbean, America and European countries don’t know where they forefathers were taken from in Africa or know there true African names. But you know your Tribe in Africa, and your name has the Father name in it “Yah” Me and you I always did say we are the same in so many ways.
Even though you are there and I am here we are family!
I never did I do not think I will ever do either.
I understand and thank you so much for your comment and for your participation!
You are welcome.
Not really in detail, but I’ve thought about it a few times. It would be interesting to trace everything back and see where we all came from.
Yes, I agree, it would be nice it we could trace it all back or as much as we can! Thank you so much for your comment and for your participation!
I have tried but it’s really hard to do cause I don’t know anything about my real family names, birthdays, and birthplace
Thank you for sharing with us and for your participation!
Tochi, do you know your family tree back in Africa from Slavery? Or even know your true African name and where in Africa you family was taken from?
Well, I can tell you my foremother was from the Mende Tribe. I was not born during the time our people were taken so I was not given a tribal name. My people had to take on the slave master’s name. I personally named myself, Yayannyah! If you notice most bibical name ended in yah!

That’s amazing that you were able to go back that far on your mother’s side! On my mother’s side I was able to go back to the early 1800s. Thanks for your comment and for your participation!
