🛑 Stop “Digital Theft” — If We Paid for It, We Own It.
Imagine buying a car… and one day the manufacturer remotely disables it because they decided to discontinue the model.
Sounds absurd, right?
Yet this is exactly what is happening in the digital world.
People spend real money on video games, software, smart home devices, e-books, and online services. Years later — sometimes even months later — companies shut down servers, remove access, revoke accounts, or push updates that make products unusable.
Consumers are told: “You didn’t buy it. You only bought a license.”
But the marketing never says that clearly.
The checkout page never feels temporary.
The price was not temporary.
We are not renting these products — we are paying full price.
When digital purchases can vanish without compensation, it erodes trust, fairness, and ownership rights in the modern economy.
Technology should empower people — not give corporations the power to remotely erase what customers paid for.
We are asking lawmakers to require:
• A clear, plain-language disclosure before purchase
• A guaranteed offline or standalone mode when servers shut down
• Refunds or alternatives if access is permanently revoked
• The right to preserve legally purchased digital products
Ownership must mean ownership — even in the digital age.
If we don’t protect digital property rights now, the future of ownership will be nothing more than a temporary subscription disguised as a purchase.

🙂A J February 18, 2026100%. If we pay for something, it shouldn't vanish because a company changes its terms. That's not ownership; that's controlled access.
