I remember when I was in school.I had a teacher who was old fashioned in her way of thinking and living. You would feel like she just didn’t want anyone to be happy since she probably was not One day, she taught us a valuable lesson I never forgot. There were students who would misbehave, and a few were very rebellious. And you had some classified as lost cases. One morning, she told us that with certain folks, trying to help or guide them was like washing your hands and drying them on that unclean floor you walk on.It is true. There are people who can never reach, and you may have to simply distance yourself from them.Do you encounter people like that?
I learned to be very careful about make predictions over the future of people’s lives. They have power. I had an English teacher that was particularly talented. I got into his accelerated class, just to have the honor to being under his leadership. He was phenomenal! I was good at writing essays. I wasn’t PASSIONATE about them because I knew that I was being graded on them, but I had a good command of English. He told me several times that I was going to be an author when I grew up. I looked at him quizzically, not taking him seriously. I didn’t think I had the talent. I didn’t have the fortitude to argue with him. He was adamant that I was going to be a published writer. Years later, it wasn’t until my third book was published that I ran across some papers I had written in high school, and saw some of his notes saying that I was going to be a very good writer one day. It chilled me to realize how prophetic those words had been, so much so that I sent him an autographed copy of my favorite book, with a personal message on the inside cover thanking him for all he had taught me about writing. It left a profound impact on how I speak over my friends and family. If people speak to me about my future, I can believe them or not. If I speak over my loved ones, I hear my own words…and I believe them. They have power to manifest great things.
