Would you eat food that’s past its expiration date if it still smells and looks good?
Not sure if you do this but some people freeze their meats for long periods of time then at some point thaw the meat out and then cook it. The meat can be as old as a year after it has expired. I’m interested to know Would you eat food after it has expired as long as still looked and smelled good? Please Explain in detail
Like everyone else replied, it really depends on what it is. Canned goods and some packaged foods I would eat past expiration, but maybe no more than a few months.
Thank you Deanna for your comment
A lot of goodies nearly to expire three or two months are donated at the food bank for distribution to the clients eg
Elderly, Children, Adult under care of a Nursing care services.
Thank you, Epifania, for your comment.
It really depends on what it is. I have because I do not like to waste, and if I know it’s still good; then I will eat it. So much of our foods have so many preservatives, they’d probably outlive us all!!! LoL!!! I do buy a lot of organic though, so I have to eat it quicker!!!!
Thank Andrea for your comment.
Welcome!!!
I did read in one of those health publications, that some foods can still be eaten after the expiration date, but not past the seventh day of it being expired.
If it is frozen it can mainly meats. Thank you Myriam for your comment.
Yes, we often cook food and then freeze it…… and forget about it lol! But its defrosted and eaten, no problems.
Other foods and expiry dates? Yes I have done but it also depends on the type of food and “use by” or “best before” labeling. If you buy food which expires today, then you cook it tomorrow, what then? Lol
Thank you, Kevin, for your comment.
It really depends on what the food item is and I may eat it.
Thank you Phyllis for your comment
You are welcome!
If I bought ready make, I didn’t eat expired because I don’t know when they made.
Sometimes, I put home cook in freezer and I renew and eat. It’s okay for me.
I should have been more specific. I only assumed that you would figure I meant homecooked or frozen foods. Thank you Dim for your comment.
I don’t eat readymade food, when it expired.
Yes I would and have many times with no ill effect
Ok I know I have too as long as you freeze it and cook it immediately after its thawed out you can survive. Thank you Judy for your comment.
Never, as you may run into food poisoning.
Not from my past experience I only did it once. If it is frozen foods especially meat. I am a living witness. I once ate some hamburger that was 6 months outdated and as long as you cook it immediately after it has thawed out you can eat it and survive. Now I get that you wouldn’t but just wanted you to know that it is a possibly to eat it and survive without complications. Thank you, Hillary, for your comment.

Yes, thank you Vahid I’m so excited
