Having to grow up with a brother with ADHD and Autism which wasn’t called that term when I was growing up prepared me for my own son, who also has ADHD and autism who is now 19. The road was tough and yet rewarding. I have to remember that the approach that I may have with one child cannot be used the same way with him, patience is key, and allowing him to be able to vent and have outbursts (hopefully in a controlled and safe environment, like home) which isn’t easy to want to deal with on any level or anywhere. The battle to want to have control is not an easy one nor one that you won’t always win.
Son texts me saying I have a million things running through my mind, well son let’s talk about the it.. we ended up talking about the planets and the core of the Earth, he felt better. Sometimes we have to stop and listen
