I’ve been researching about how politics have been corrupted by things that do not come from a wholistic, moral place, and instead from things like greed and self-aggrandization. There are plenty of religious people in politics, who because of the morals they have been taught, through piety, humility, and empathy, sort of can act as a counter-force to even the most deceitful person, acting as a moral figure, while sort of diluting the meaning of the social contract anyway.
