I believe that it’s always wise to pick your battles. If it’s something that is not that important and does not compromise your morals, you can say sorry to end the conflict.

This is a tricky question, say you were right, but the way the other individual took what you said as wrong. You can always apologize to them for the misunderstanding and trying to explain where the other individual understands where your coming from!
