After assessing the situation, ensuring it is not a setup or staged act, I would cautiously approach the person with kindness and ask the person what are they doing and why, speaking out so that the blind person can hear the conversation. I would attempt to settle the matter with verbal demonstrations containing life lessons scenarios.
Especially if money is what the person was attempting to steal from the blind, I would explain the importance of why committing such actions aren’t great ideas. I would also inform them about asking and not stealing along with the consequences behind it all.
Then to wrap things up, possibly lead them to where they could make money so they don’t have to steal. Tell them to try it, to try asking me if I could spare the amount of money they were asking, explain to them they may not always get what they want or need, dig in my bag or pocket, and give them an extra $20 more than what they’d asked for. I’d do it in an effort to ignite a change of heart and a change in their ways for them to become the better person of themselves.

Yes, great answer, Latasha! I never thought about this situation being a set up or being staged. Yes, that happens all the time and we can get tricked or injured trying to do the right thing. I am so glad that you pointed this out. We all have to be aware of things like this and know how to handle the situation without anyone getting injured and loss of life. That can happen, as well. Thank you so much, Latasha for being so compassionate and kind, not only to the blind person but to the both of them. To take out time and concern shows you actually care for people. Thanks for sharing with us and responding to this question. Have a wonderful, Latasha!
