Historical buildings
Stockport has many historic buildings, including The Plaza, St. Peter’s Church, and Stockport Viaduct.
Strawberry Studios
Strawberry Studios was home to some of Manchester’s most famous musicians, including Joy Division, The Smiths, and The Stone Roses.
Fred Perry
Tennis player Fred Perry was born in Stockport in 1909 and was the last Brit to win the men’s Wimbledon tennis championship before Andy Murray in 2013.
Mersey Way
The entrance to the undercover section of Mersey Way has a large mat that some people find difficult to look at as it messes with their eyes.
Stockport is nicknamed “The Workshop of the North” because of its long history of industry and commerce.
