Yes, I believe aging parents who are unable to care for themselves should be supported by their children as long as the adult children are financially capable, responsible and have no family issues that would interfere with caring for their parents. I know here in the US the nurse home facilities are for the most part horrible places. I wouldn’t want my parents to live in one of them!

You’re welcome Jacqueline and have a great evening ✨
Sure. If the children are willing to accept them and plan to take decent care of them… nursing homes are terrible places no matter how nice and pretty they may appear to be, they are extremely unhealthy for an elderly persons mental state. Especially if they have some sort of dementia. A more home like environment with familiar faces and things might be less confusing and help to keep the memories they do have a little longer….💜

Aging parents should live with their children especially which is so common these days if they have severe cognitive decline, either Alzheimer’s and dementia. They also should be cared for by home care assistants. That is the better solution than nursing homes.

Thank you too for the thoughtful question.
You are more than welcome Hillary
I’m in that situation. I think it depends on the relationship you have with said parent. Because it’s not only you, but your whole family that have to take part in looking after, or tolerating, the elderly parent. Also consider the feelings of the parent, especially if they are developing dementia. It’s a child’s obligation but they’re are considerations to be made in reality.
I don’t think there should be a second thought. Look at it this way did they think twice about taking care of you? There is nothing to think about if anything everyone should pitch in and make it a family thing take turns helping each other.
Thank you Jacqueline, your so beautiful and pretty looking lady 😘💞💕
You’re welcome David
Should elderly parents move in with their children once they can no longer live on their own?
If I had a chance to see my child grow up, I wouldn’t move in with my son. I don’t think he should have to take care of me. It’s my job to take care of him no matter how old he gets.

I say, yes, yes, yes!
I agree Phyllis thank you for sharing your comment
You are welcome!
I say yes, I do not like the stories or how usually you hear of how they get treated in homes for the elderly. Me personally if my mother gets to that point I would not hesitate to move her in with me to take care of her. I could not see leaving my mother in a nursing home or anything like that because they do become depressed when they don’t have family that visits them and I think it’s better for them just because you get to spend the remaining time with them. Even if they need 24 hour care, I’d rather quit my job and stay at home and not waste any time not spending any time with her, it’s the exact thing we did with my husbands mother who needed 24 hour care, I took over the financial responsibility and let him stay home with her.
That is very sweet of you Kimberly there is a lot of people out here that won’t do that and would rather put their parents in a nursing home which is really sad thank you for sharing your comment.
You know what, you have a good heart Jacqueline, and your a caring person. It’s very difficult in this world to find someone like you with the good quality that you are!! Thank you for being my good friend Jacqueline 😘💞💕
Thank you David you are quite welcome and thank you my friend as well
I believe that is a conversation that should be had in every household. Some parents not want to impose the kind of care they will need on their own children and would rather be moved to a facility, but I think it should be a conversation that is had between the parents and the children and both parties should say what they feel about it. Also if the adult child is not willing or able to care for their parent that should be put out into the open as well , so proper arrangements can be made for when that time does come.

Thats a very tough question. I guess it would totally depend on the children’s situation. There are a lot of factors to consider. “Do they have ample space and the needed previsions to care for them? Do they have the necessary financial ability and time for what is needed?” If the answer is yes, by all means move them in and help your family that supported you for many years.
You shouldn’t have to think twice about that when they’ve taken care of you until you could take care of yourself. In my opinion there is nothing to think about where there’s a will there’s a way.
YES! We lived in mom’s tummy. We lived with our mom & dad rent free, free meals, free laundry service and on and on. They paid for our toys and our school supplies. When it’s time, they should live in their children’s home instead of a nursing home. Of course, there are many factors involved.
My mom did have to go to a nursing home after being hit by a drunk driver and in coma for months She woke and had too much brain damage and lived as a vegetable for 20 years! I was her guardian, and I had to have her moved three times due to poor situations at the nursing homes!
My dad had to go to nursing home because of dementia. He didn’t know any of us kids. He was kind of mean. Not there very long when he fell, and the bed post went through his check and out his neck! No bumper pads, that one was sued.
Avoid nursing homes if all possible. I am sorry my parents had to experience them!!
I agree Rhonda nursing homes should not be a choice at all for anyone and thank you for sharing your comment.
Only if the children are available and have the ability of taking care of their parents.
That makes sense thank you Hillary for sharing your comment.
Yes we should show love to our elderly parents and be there when they need us just as they were for us. If they move in with us it would be easier to monitor their physical health needs and safety.
I agree that we should thank you Virginia for sharing your comment
