Many of us living have either experienced or known folks and relatives who remember those events. For example, my grandmother, on my father’s side of the family was born a month before the Titanic sank. Then when World War One occurred shennwas a toddler. My parents were both born a few months before World War 2 started and when that ended, they were children. I was born days before Martin Luther King was assassinated. What events in these past times have those older than you been affected by?
The death of president Kenedy. I was in the fourth grade when my teacher was called outside of the classroom and returned crying. She sadly gave my class the bad news and we all began crying also although I don’t think I entirely realized what this meant. Later, when I returned home, I found my parents extremely upset as well. That is when they sat me down and explained the events and meaning to me. Very sad day.

I worked with someone years ago who said the day John F Kennedy was killed, that he had come back from recess along with his classmates. He said his teacher was crying like she would never shed another tear again. He asked why.She told the class about the tragedy and after that, they were dismissed from school.Events like this are unforgettable.
