What I understand, life begins from zero, but age can just begin counting from one. Yes , a child is born and we begin counting his age from day, weeks, months and years. May be some other cultures believes that, because life begins in the womb, then the age of that living thing should just begin there.
You are welcome! This was a very interesting question. Thank you!
You’re welcome
Well I was born in England, so I always thought life begins at 0 zero, then a year one. Other cultures I’m not too sure.
Don’t worry you’re not alone I don’t know either and thank you David for sharing your comment
Under the Korean age system, their babies are considered to be one year old on the day they are born, and every January 1st a year is added to a person’s age, regardless of their actual birthdate. This is very interesting, a baby born on New Year’s Eve becomes two years old the next day.
Also, there is a second counting method, a mix of the international and Korean age systems which a baby is born at zero years and one year is added every January 1st.
Thanks Phyllis for sharing your very detailed comment
You are welcome!
I guess that would have to be a traditional thing.
Yeah sounds right it’s a possibility and thanks for sharing your comment
These differences are influenced by cultural beliefs about the beginning of life and development. Some cultures count age from 0, considering human life to begin at birth, while others count age from 1, viewing the first year of life as a milestone 🙂
