Food, money, bed linen, enough clothing eg socks underwear. A good phone etc
You are welcome my friend.
Laundry Detergent , deodorant , Soap , Towels , and a Fleece blanket .
oh a comfy blanket, great idea. I don’t know how cold the dorms get in winter but even if its just for comfort.
Give the gift of money so that he can make his own choice of what it is that he wants.
He is so indecisive I might just have to do that, be like ok here kiddo here is $$$ now go buy what you need and/or want.
Sounds like the best choice because the one thing you don’t want to do is buy something and he turn around and not really like it
When my eldest went off to college, we purchased a mini refrigerator.
With how much soda, sports drinks and things like that he drinks, I am sure that will have to be one of the next purchases for sure. Thank you for your response.
You are welcome!
I totally understand and I know the feeling. I had the same situation with my son. For him he cooks his own food. I was really worried about him because before he started university he did not even know how to cook. I used to call him every day checking whether he had eaten.Thank God to Youtube, he learnt to prepare food and now he is a genius. I sometimes ask him to cook for us when he is on holiday and he prepares delicious meals. You do not have to buy whole lot of clothes at one go.
oh my son loves the youtube and is always showing me interesting foods he wants to try, but never makes the effort to make them himself. In college I am sure that will change, like you said , especially since he will be 3 hours away .
Yeah he will change. You will be surprised.
Money for groceries and a microwave!
Unfortunely they arent allowed to have a microwave in their dorm room, however all first year freshman are required to have the unlimited meal plan
I think of those days and say bean bag chair and mini fridge.
Great answer. He already has a huge beanbag that he loves, which would definitely have to be downsized for the dorm, though. The mini fridge is definitely an essential.
I wouldn’t know, at my age I’m well past college days
Thank you for your response

Luckily his freshman year comes with an unlimited food plan, its a requirement by the university. As for bed linens and clothes, that requires him being willing to go to the store with his mother to buy some of these things. He actually needs a whole new wardrobe as his past 6 years was at a private high school so they had a dresscode and all his clothes are meant for business , not play. Im dreading the clothing bill.

Thank you for your answer
