The first food eaten in space was pureed meat (beef and liver paste) and chocolate sauce, squeezed from tubes. This meal was consumed by Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin during his historic flight on April 12, 1961, according to Orbital Today and NASA. The tubes were used because early space missions were too short to require extensive food preparation, and the pureed consistency and packaging were chosen to prevent crumbs from floating around the spacecraft.
It’s funny how you said that Iwona, because that is exactly what man is trying to do now Scientist. Now I think they are sick in the head if you ask me..lol.hehe.
I really hope it doesn’t come to that—I’d hate for my meals to vanish off the plate!
Let’s keep enjoying good food the good old-fashioned way.
I would guess dried fruit or something. I had no idea and oh my, beef & liver paste sounds like dogfood. Yuck. I am not much of a meat eater let along liver❗❗
I wouldn’t make it, lol 🤪
Thank you for sharing, Rhonda.
Yes that right, it looks like toothpaste you just suck it.lol.hehe. Crazy right.
Totally crazy, David. I wouldn’t be surprised if future food comes in squeeze pouches, tablets, or even 3D-printed. Quick, efficient, and tailored – chewing optional.
A beef and liver paste
Thank you for your answer, Joe.
It was my pleasure Iwona ;))
The first food eaten in space was a paste-like puree of beef and liver, squeezed from a tube
Thank you for your answer, Jacqueline.
You’re welcome Iwona
I had no idea but that sounds disgusting lol ewww 🤮
Wasn’t that bad, Teresa. It was beef & liver paste, and chocolate sauce, all packed in aluminum tubes.
The chocolate sauce doesn’t sound bad but the liver paste is what gets me lol
It was a base of beef and liver paste and some other stuff paste.
Yes, and there was chocolate sauce. All packed in aluminum tubes, similar to toothpaste tubes.

Thank you for answer, Gina.
