The first potato chip was plain which makes sense because all other flavors were created years later
Iwona you’re welcome
Plain and just salt, created in 1853 according to Wikipedia
Correct. Thank you for answer, Teresa.
You’re welcome Iwona, have a beautiful Sunday
I would imagine the first time a crisp was made it was just a thin slice of crispy potato with no added flavour.
Correct. Thank you for sharing, Lee.
I didn’t google and I am thinking just plain potato slices fried in lard with salt. 👩🏻🍳
You’re right to wonder! The original potato chips invented by George Crum were indeed just thin, crispy potatoes with salt—so plain salted was the first and classic flavor.
The first flavored potato chips were Cheese and Onion and Salt and Vinegar, introduced by Tayto in Ireland in 1954. In the United States, the first flavored chips were Barbecue, first sold by Herr’s potato chips in 1958.
Actually, Gina, the original potato chips invented by George Crum were crispy potatoes with salt — so plain salted was the first and classic flavor.
Yes sure dear, its really simple. You need a potato slicer to slice the potatoes to thin slices. The flavours you can buy from your local superstores. Orion powder, Garlic powder, Cheese powder and so on powder flavours. The best result use corn oil. Heat up the cooking oil in a big put. Add a little of your power flavour add your slices of potatoes a little at a time when almost cooked chirpy add more of your power flavours. Then when cooked chirpy remove onto a paper towel Sprinkle some of the powder flavours and salt and enjoy!! Print this message or copy and paste for future reference!!
