Pluto, once considered the ninth planet in our solar system, was reclassified as a dwarf planet in 2006 by the International Astronomical Union (IAU). This reclassification was due to Pluto’s failure to meet the IAU’s definition of a planet, specifically the requirement to “clear the neighborhood” around its orbit.
