I was able to pay off one old credit card.But I had to go to court against a debt collection company that got forced out of business in late 2009.They spent years harassing and practically terrorizing folks who owed.That day I appeared in the court and had to face the person who represented that law firm,I spoke to her in a very nasty and hateful tone of voice.I told her off.I did make the arrangement,but I would find out that they were being forced out of business.I was relieved.I learned to be careful with credit.
