The absence of disease would lead to a dramatic increase in global well-being. It would eliminate a primary source of suffering, premature death, and physical pain for everyone. The resources currently spent on healthcare, research, and treatment could be reallocated to other areas, benefiting society as a whole. This outcome would provide a more substantial and universal benefit, as everyone could enjoy a longer, healthier life, which is a fundamental requirement for experiencing any other form of happiness or success.
In contrast, while income equality would address issues of poverty and disparity, it wouldn’t eliminate all forms of suffering or lead to an equally significant improvement in everyone’s lives. Other problems, such as mental illness, environmental issues, and social conflicts, would still exist. Eliminating disease, however, would directly and completely improve the most basic and essential aspect of human life, health, for every single person on the planet.
