I do not think it is correct to assume people’s ability to drive is purely age related as there are many factors involved. To assume people only begin to lose their sight when they reach 70 is wrong. I noticed that I needed to wear glasses after I finished my degree and the optician told me this happened to many people as their eyesight altered after reading so many books.
Safety on the road is all important and I think all drivers should be asked to submit the results of an eye test at least every ten years not wait until they are 70.
