What would you say or do to encourage a person who has been diagnosed with a terminal illness?

I would begin by saying that miracles do happen and Doctors can get things wrong so I would never give up hope.

I would also pray that this person had a belief in God and would then know that when they do pass away they will be transcending to a much better place
