Not sure, guess it probably depend on what religion a person has, for some religions are based on God, but not all religion is based on the same God or for that matter, the only true God.

You are correct in what you say about it depends on what religion.
I firmly believe in God but see that many people do acts that they say are in the name of a certain religion but clearly go against what God said in the ten commandments

Yes, sad but true, I also see many people with that kind of mind set, and if u try to convince them that they are living wrong, many of them will in return try to convince u that it’s not them in the wrong, but rather it’s u who’s wrong.
Not sure, but to suit many of these kind of people own needs & wants, I think many of them, along with being brainwashed from a very early age, think many of them have created their own God in their minds, a God that will approve of whatever they call right or call wrong, and also if they are surrounded by many others that believe like them, that help confirm in their minds that they are not doing wrong.
I totally agree Nathan. I think many people use religion to justify their own unjustifiable actions. If everyone followed the ten commandments the world would be a much better place
