I think this will really hurt the ones who have no choice but to depend on foodstamps. Some people really can’t help their situation and rely on these benefits monthly to keep food on their tables. Hopefully this won’t last long. We should pray for those who are most vulnerable that will be affected by this.

I feel bad for anyone who is affected by the food stamps being cut.
I am hoping that someone with a heart will help the people get their food stamps back.
I never imagined that something like this would happen and around the holidays, how cruel to put people through so much stress that they may do the unthinkable

We were on Snap a few years ago and we both worked and those benefits helped us out so much especially since we have children, We no longer need the help and no longer receive Snap Benefits. Many people who receive Food Stamps actually do have jobs ( some families have more than one job ) I know many people who has never been on Snap don’t understand the process these people have to do to even qualify for Snap Benefits so they make up assumptions about people not working while on Food Stamps… But that’s just assumptions and not truth, Having a job is actually a REQUIREMENT for qualifying for Snap Benefits or at least a Job Program… So the IDEA of people not working while on Food Stamps is from the mindset of people who has never been in that rough era of their own life where they needed the help to feed their families. With No help from the Government and No food stamps many Children in America are going to suffer from this, and since School is almost out for the Holiday vacations many children are going to suffer ( many children rely on school lunches because at home they have nothing to eat ). A solution to the down fall of Snap Benefits would be bringing Back the Government Food Boxes to families in need!!

But as for the snap benefits l, they didn’t mention anything about it, so I don’t really know anything about it either. But you explained in full details. Thank you for giving me the understanding of the American benefits systems. One question: do the government help with paying people who don’t work rent? In the UK our government help by paying rent for people who don’t have a job. I myself have never been on any kind of benefits before. I agree Gina for those who are working or can work shouldn’t be receiving food stamp assistance anyway, but I have a question what about those who are disabled and can’t work? Should they not receive food stamps? What are they suppose to do? Everyone can’t get out here and take care of themselves. It doesn’t mean that they are just being lazy and don’t want to work. I for one would love to work would just about give anything to change my current situation but I can’t because I have a condition that won’t allow me to do to much of anything that’s physical which has lead me to where I am today.
Even working families need help with groceries ( especially nowadays ) The cost of groceries in my state alone is outrageously expensive and by the time a family pays rent and their bills most families don’t have enough money leftover to purchase groceries. Elderly and the Disabled shouldn’t have to work to qualify for food stamps ( they should automatically receive them without having to work ). Not everyone on government assistance is abusing the system ( being lazy ) some people just need a helping hand from time to time!

My concern is for the elderly, disabled, veterans and homeless people/children.
There seems to be no compassonate for those in this country who cannot for whatever reason to give them a better quality of food!
Why punish the ones who really need those benefits?
They have used our tax dollars for years helping people all over the world sending them billions of dollars, but yet, they refuse to help the elderly, disabled, veterans and homeless people of this country!

The way I see this,is that this terrorist in charge is doing this because of his anger that he was not reelected in 2020.While I do not condone going into stores and taking the food and not paying for it ,I do understand the rage.Governments are supposed to protect the citizens and residents,not starve them.I know many folks who are on SNAP,and it will be hard for them.But whether this monstrous administration believes it or not,the wrecking ball will come for them It is seriously unfair and inhumane to make sure that them and their associates and supporters are fed and others suffer.

It’s a tough one. From what I’ve seen on social media the system is ripe with abuse. Families spending more on branded rubbish snack food than most working people could hope to afford. Lots of people are utterly refusing the prospect of needing a job, and threatening to just loot their food from stores or other innocent people too, so the attitudes behind them aren’t nice.
Out benefits in the UK work very differently but it’s the same here. I know people living of free money than certainly should be working, and they sometimes seem to have more financial freedom than I do!
I think asking recipients to do community work is a good option to explore. Only providing staples such as meat, veggies, eggs, butter, cheese ect could be an option too. And healthier!
Having the safety net is vital but people make it a lifestyle choice, even a generational one in some cases!
I agree lots of these folks need a Job.
Cheryl, I really understand you, so many people are so dependent on benefits, that they don’t want to work, they get their rent paid for and the receiving UC benefits and other benefits they even get their poll tax paid for too they get more money then I do from the work I do.
