While a relationship might technically “continue” in a state of distrust for a time, it often becomes a source of stress and unhappiness rather than support and joy. The relationship would be lacking the essential ingredients that make it healthy and fulfilling.

Their are different kinds of trust and different levels of trust, I do think you can have a good relationship with little to no trust. Been married about 30 years I trust my husband about somethings but there are other things I don’t trust but we make it work. Just depends on the person and what your willing to deal with.

Not at all, unless the one who created the distrust is willing to prove that they can be trusted, but that would mean every move would be watched and followed until the person who was victimized can feel comfortable trusting them again, and who knows how long that will take, too.
