I think distancing oneself from problematic family members is completely okay. Cutting them off entirely, that should be considered on a case by case basis, and should only be done as a last resort, after all other methods of reconciliation are exhausted.
Praying for whatever situation you are in (or others are in) and that you reconcile and find peace. You are in control, and you have the final decision.
It is not wrong to distance yourself from family if the relationship constantly harms your mental, emotional, or physical well-being. Family bonds are important, but they should not be a lifelong source of pain, manipulation, or disrespect. Protecting your peace is part of self-respect and healing. However, cutting ties should be a thoughtful decision, not one made in anger alone. Sometimes setting boundaries, seeking counseling, or reducing contact can help without completely severing the relationship. Ultimately, your peace matters, and choosing yourself isn’t selfish—it’s necessary when love stops feeling safe or supportive.
