This is a very good and interesting question. It has been happening for long. Every end of the year. People always believed that crossing to the new year is going to be a year of revival and new life chapters. Some call it new year, new life. But believed me at the end of every year. 80% of such People with bad characters and behaviors happen to continue with it in the new year.
