This is a tough situation, and people react very differently. Some believe the best move is to expose the person publicly and warn others. Others say you should stay quiet, document everything, and handle it only through legal channels. Which approach do you think is smarter—and why? Please share your reasoning (and what risks you see in the approach you didn’t choose).
Though I would love to go public and shout out to the world about the extortionist or blackmailer, I would remain quiet and go the legal route.
Lawyers know how to best handle these situations and have access to investigators and other resources that they can use to bring the bad guys to justice. Hopefully it would result in the perpetrators going to prison!
Going public may feel satisfying to the victim, but it could result in the situation escalating to something even worse. The extortionists may fight back publicly and do their best to destroy the victim’s reputation, career, or family – making false claims, lying, they are evil and will resort to anything necessary to achieve their desired results. It could even get nastier, with threats of physical harm or worse. I believe the best way to battle extortionists is through legal channels!
