“Follow your passion” sounds inspiring… but is it actually good advice?
Some people say passion is the fuel that makes hard work feel easier—and that it leads to success if you stay consistent. Others say it’s a trap that keeps people dreaming, switching directions, and avoiding the boring-but-profitable skills that actually build a stable life.
So what do you think?
Is “follow your passion” a smart life strategy… or one of the biggest traps?
And if you’ve tried it: did it help you—or hurt you? 👇
To answer your question Vahid. Yes I did follow my passion. I started riding horses as a child and as I got older I wanted to become a top dressage rider.
The equestrian sport is very expensive and a good horse takes years of training, patience and practice.
I was not rich enough to just ride horses so I also had a full time career.
I made it to National but not International level and decided to retire from riding a few years ago.
would I do it all again? I am not sure.
i had many enjoyable experiences but I spent most of my money pursuing an unattainable dream.
Following your passion can form character and allow you to lead an exciting life but it probably does not provide a secure future

Great
