“Follow your passion” sounds inspiring… but is it actually good advice?
Some people say passion is the fuel that makes hard work feel easier—and that it leads to success if you stay consistent. Others say it’s a trap that keeps people dreaming, switching directions, and avoiding the boring-but-profitable skills that actually build a stable life.
So what do you think?
Is “follow your passion” a smart life strategy… or one of the biggest traps?
And if you’ve tried it: did it help you—or hurt you? 👇

I think “follow your passion” is powerful advice — but only when it’s understood correctly. Passion can give you energy and resilience, especially when things get difficult. It makes long hours and setbacks easier to handle.
But it can also become a trap if it’s used as an excuse to avoid discipline, skill-building, or realistic planning. Passion without competence or market demand often leads to frustration.
Personally, I believe a better strategy is to build valuable skills first, then grow passion within something that creates real opportunity. Sometimes passion actually develops after you become good at something and start seeing results.
So I wouldn’t say it’s one of the biggest traps — but blindly following passion without strategy definitely can be.
