New small business owners make their biggest mistake, or at least one of their biggest mistakes, when they bite off more than they can chew, and whatever money they do make, they don’t reinvest back into the company. They use it for other things, and most of it is personal use, and they end up out of business in 1 to 3 years if they even make it that far. But that’s trial and error for anybody who never ran a business before. The goal is to bounce back; it doesn’t matter how long it takes to get back in business again. It’s not easy running a business; it’s not for the weak. But the first year, don’t even think about making a profit for yourself; just think about the company as a whole. Let the company make a decent profit first; after you reinvest, you will be fine. Don’t be scared to get a mentor who is successful and has been successful in your field of business to talk to; even if you have to pay for the phone call, it will save you from countless early mistakes in becoming a small business owner.
