As a human being, the one thing I’ve never told anyone I actually want—deep down, no filter—is this:
I want someone to look at me like I’m their safe place to fall apart.
Not the strong one who always has it together. Not the fixer. Not the provider or the planner.
Just… let me be the mess for once. Let me cry ugly, rage without explanation, doubt everything out loud, fall silent for days, and still have them stay—hold space without trying to solve it or leave when it’s inconvenient.
No performance. No expectation that I’ll snap back to “normal” on their timeline.
Just quiet, steady presence that says: “You’re allowed to not be okay here. And I’m not going anywhere.”
I’ve never said it because it feels dangerously vulnerable—like admitting I don’t always want to be the rock. Like asking to be carried when I’ve spent so long carrying.
But yeah. That’s the want I’ve kept locked away.
What about you—what’s the one thing you’ve never told anyone you actually want?
