1 + 1 is 2. I have had a lot of math classes. However, I cannot explain the theory behind why this equation is correct… All I can offer is based upon our numerical system. When you start counting and the quantity is increased by one, you get the next number. So 1 + 1 becomes the next number, which is 2.
I have to ask….. Are you a math major? 😁😁
I was curious because it is a deep theory question for mathematics. I had a teacher in college who was proving why 0 (zero) was equal to zero. It was interesting ut I have forgotten the theory she was talking a out.
It is a good question. Thank you!
Zero stands for Nil or Non
Yes, you are correct.
I think the math has to be based off of items we learn to count because we go back to the way we were taught when we count. In others words the 1+1 = 2 is a method used to help us learn how to understand how to count and as far 11 is concerned don’t know what it represents.
Is that in maths we have quantities and numbers. And a quantity can be represented by a number.
I’m not exactly sure what you mean can you elaborate?
Are you alright Hilary? Imagine how the Romans felt when 2 was II, 5 was V and 10 was X.🤣
I don’t know especially when 5 became V
If you ASSUME the person is talking about maths you will answer 2. Otherwise, 2 ones makes 1 and 1 or 11!
🤣🤣🤣
Have we been programmed??
One add one eg an Orange you add another orange.

Nop! Am just interested to know.
