Is modern day vaseline still a by-product of Petroleum?

I didn’t know for sure, so I researched the answer and this what I found:

While derived from petroleum, Vaseline® ensures the safety of its jelly by putting it through a triple purification process. This process removes impurities, resulting in a jelly that is non-irritating and hypo allergenic.

So, I going to assume by this report that the answer to the question is yes but is purified before placing on the market to sell.
