I wouldn’t dream of reading someone’s diary if I stumbled upon it open. I’ve experienced the violation of my own privacy, and it’s not something I’d want anyone else to go through. Diaries are deeply personal, a sanctuary for our innermost thoughts to flow without fear of judgment. What’s the use of keeping a diary if it’s not going to be respected, you know? If you’re curious about someone’s feelings or actions, there are far more respectful ways to find out than intruding on their private thoughts. It’s all about fostering positive communication and respecting each other’s personal space. Respect should always come first.
Thanks, Kevin! As a parent myself, I completely understand where you’re coming from. Our children’s safety is always our top priority. When there’s a serious concern, like if they’re talking about hurting themselves or others, or if, heaven forbid, they were to go missing, we have to step in, even if it means reading their diary to help them. But outside of those urgent situations, reading someone’s personal diary is wrong. Initially, I answered the question just thinking about a random diary laying around and if I would read it out of mere curiosity. In that case, I wouldn’t dream of invading someone’s privacy like that.
Word, sis ❤️

Thank you Denise, I appreciate you and what you say. Now as a parent I have to consider crossing that line if my child is threatening suicide or other things which would be a danger to them or others. I haven’t had to, but I would. Any other situation, not my business.
