On instincts, I’d ignore it because if someone wanted me to read their diary, they’d have to hand it to me personally and tell me that they want me to read it. I despise the sneaky and snooping ordeals.
Mainly because I was always called out or accused of being sneaky as a child 98% of times that I wasn’t. I had no idea what the word truly meant at such a very tender young age I had the title dunced over my head, 5 years to be frank. However by age 7, I knew fully what it meant then. So, I went on growing up trying to rid of the ugly title by not doing anything that would cause me to look as if I was trying to be sneaky, which was a way that I hardly ever acted out to begin with, and if I did, eight times outta ten, I wasn’t trying to appear as so.
It wouldn’t be until I got older that I noticed I’d been called sneaky due to my “Zodiac* sign. Right! Although the majority of what’s listed as personality characteristics, amongst others, usually seems to be dead on in the descriptions, getting caught up and going by the Zodiac world, tarot card readings, and things associated within its realm doesn’t spark my interest. Therefore, I don’t dibble nor dabble in it. Surely, doesn’t define the individual that I truly am.
Also, by the time my ability to understand the Zodiac ordeal matured, I’d worked so delicately on not being sneaky as a child that it definitely could no longer be referenced as being a part of my traits. About the only thing I prove being sneaky at these days is when I’m bent on surprising people with things or events. It thrills me to surprise others. I love that I get to enjoy their feel good excitement! It’s where my ultimate joy derives from!
Anyhow, I don’t play the game of “I left it opened on purpose for you to read it.” I’d much rather remain safe from the “guess my silent hint” game in entirety because I don’t like to guess wrong when placed in such position. Besides, I’m a sore loser in those specific guessing games.
Surely, if the situation was set-up to see if I’d read it or not, I’d close the diary and hand it back to whomever it belongs to, while at the same time notifying them that they’d left it opened or it had been left opened.
I don’t want others snooping through my things so I treat everyone else in that manner. If they decide otherwise and would choose opposite of what I would, then I’d perceive it as them wanting to be handled in the same manner accordingly. That’s when I’ll be sure to allow them to catch me snooping through their things so that there won’t be any misunderstanding whatsoever between the two of us. Period.
Thank you for the detail sis!

I would ignore it, because it is not my business, I keep a diary and I wouldn’t want anyone invade my privacy.
Diaries are the confidential documents and people keep their secrets safe in their diaries. We should never forget to give space to someone personal life. That is not the newspaper that everyone can read it. That is attached with emotions and the secrets of someone’s life. We should never touch anyone’s personal space.
If I was right next to it, I would most likely briefly glance at it. But not go thru it and read everything.
I will close the diary. The owner will no doubt come back and look for it. He or she will feel extremely vulnerable because of the fear of a stranger reading intimate commentary about life, love, and fears. I would never be able to live with myself if I read a person’s diary, especially if I knew that the owner were looking for it.
If I saw someone’s diary open I would not read it because what’s written in a person’s diary are their own personal/private thoughts…and it’s definitely none of my business. Besides, I wouldn’t nobody reading my diary or any other private writing of mine.
I already had enough of my things read by other people without my permission over the years. Just mind your business.
Also it depends with the owner.Although I have not come across such situation. The question itself does not really specify what that someone is. If the diary is for my teenage child I would probably have a peep. Teenagers are secretive with their diaries so if they leave it open most probaly it would be deliberate, they want you to see it. It could be that, they want to communicate something sensitive to you and they don’t feel confident approaching you in person. They could be being bullied or struggling with their mental health.

Honestly no because is meant to be private to the person
