Emotional intelligence and self-regulation.
We spend years learning math, history, and science — all valuable — but most of us graduate without understanding how to manage our emotions, resolve conflicts, deal with rejection, set boundaries, or navigate stress. These are life skills that directly affect relationships, careers, and mental health.
Imagine if students learned things like:
-
How to stay calm under pressure
-
How to listen without reacting
-
How to build self-worth without needing approval
-
How to spot manipulative behavior
-
How to bounce back from failure
It would change lives.

I think schools should teach how to manage money properly.

Jacqueline you are welcome.
Thanks
Some schools may incorporate effective communications but not enough. These skills are needed to develop positive relationships. Kids need to learn more about active listening, conflict resolution, and diffusing escalated situations. Some of this should be learned at home, but sadly not all parents do.
You are right Brenda parents don’t always do what they are supposed to that is why children have so much trouble listening to adults and even as much as doing what they are asked so much disrespect it’s crazy thanks for sharing your comment
You are very welcome. Enjoy your weekend!

You’re welcome Jacqueline!
Children should be learning life skills in school – how to manage emotions, handle money, cook meals, solve problems, speak kindly, show compassion, and resolve conflicts without violence. Children need the skills that shape a good life. They should learn to think critically, set healthy boundaries, care for their mental health, and confidently manage daily responsibilities.
Honestly, I could go on and on.

Survival skills! Yes learning basic education is important but learning how to survive outside of school is just important! Survival skills like: How to hunt for food, how to cook over a fire, how to forage for food and or medicine, learning CPR and how to make natural medicine from the wild. Anyone can learn school skills but not everyone knows how to survive outside of school…. Most kids nowadays wouldn’t last a day in the woods because they are so used to the electronic world.

I think banking/investing should be taught. That would be life changing.
I also think each student must have extensive time with a counselor (kind of like a life coach) in order for the student to understand timberline for their desires and needs.
That should be timeline and not timberline

What should be tough school is teaching our kids about how to think like entrepreneur.

How the current banking system really works. How money is really created and by who. How we are made to pay interest on its creation and it being the real reason for income taxes…
It wouldn’t take long for civilisation to rise against it if most of us weren’t ignorant by design.

I think they should teach them about respect and love for everyone despite of who they are and where they come from or their gender. They should also teach then about being charitable, helping those who are less fortunate. Most importantly they should teach them about God the almighty for God is love. When you have love in you, you don’d fight or kill your neighbor. PEACRE is what we need and children need to grow up with peace in their heart.

I agree with you Virginia, but it’s starts from home if parents are not teaching them to respect other people and their things, then it will almost be impossible to train the mind that is nearly set to doing what they clearly are unaware is wrong. That saying it takes a community to raise a child it’s true everyone should play a part in some way or another. Children are like sponges they absorb whatever they are around most. So, if whomever they come across is being respectful and presenting themself correctly most importantly the parents its starts from home where the seed is planted, then children will follow suit in my opinion thanks Virginia for sharing your comment
Very true, I agree with you my friend. Charity begins at home.
More things than are taught, I chose to home educate my children as I think most basic actual life needed skills are missing from the palace children are expected to spend most of their waking hours. I understand some responsibility is supposed to fall on parents for these things but given sleeping times most parents see their children awake for less time than teachers so more everyday skills are needed.
Codo’s to you I think all parents should home school their children. I understand not everyone can they do have to work. Maybe they should at least consider working from home. Thank you, Catherine, for sharing your comment
I think they should not do much teach but to encourage them to always remember who they are and that we are all different to never just conform to what society says they should be. To love themselves and just because we do something different than someone else doesn’t make you weird it makes you you and not to compare yourself with anyone else because no one can shine your light better than you can so it should be taught to never forget who you are

Basic cooking!! My daughter is 16 and lives with her dad. She knows how to put something in the microwave… that’s it. When she was younger and lived with me, I used to let her help.
It is just an example of how children may not get to learn some basic things at home.
