A driver’s license is often accepted as proof of age for alcohol purchases because it is a widely available and standardized form of identification in the United States. While it’s illegal to drive under the influence of alcohol, the license itself doesn’t restrict alcohol purchases for those who are of legal drinking age. It serves as a convenient way for retailers to verify a customer’s age without needing to check multiple forms of identification.
You’re welcome
As far as the driver’s license, it’s just the law to prove who you are and your age so the seller of alcohol will not be responsible for selling to underage children. They made it a law to try and reduce drunk driving on the road and to punish those who are caught.

You don’t need a driver’s license to purchase alcohol, just a state ID.
