Why do people need a driver’s license to buy alcohol when they can’t drive while drinking?

As far as the driver’s license, it’s just the law to prove who you are and your age so the seller of alcohol will not be responsible for selling to underage children. They made it a law to try and reduce drunk driving on the road and to punish those who are caught.
